Halloween on the High Seas

How lucky am I that I was able to be one of the first to experience halloween on the brand new Disney Wish?! It was so very exciting for me to get to go on this cruise, even more exciting because it happened very last minute! I'd love to share my experience and some info for future halloween cruises on the Wish!

There are a few things to note for Halloween on the High Seas. This is not a theme that will overtake every single aspect of the ship. There are decorations and the characters get dressed up in Halloween costumes and there are new Halloween shows and experiences. However, the characters still dress up in their cruise attire, the night time shows are the same, the sail away show is the same as well as pirate night shows and attire! So really, you get the best of both worlds on a Halloween themed cruise!

I am very into shows and character meet and greets, so naturally I made sure to see the characters in all of their costumes and didn't miss any shows! This was my first cruise post covid that characters were hugging and let me assure you, I hugged them SO many times. My heart was so very full by the end of this cruise because I could finally experience a character meet and greet in all its glory and on *my* ship!!

The key to getting to meet all of the characters and getting to see them in all of their outfits, is that Navigator app! Let me tell you, I would be LOST without that app on my cruises! The app usually has the list of events for the day and it has different categories as well. You can select Characters and it will show you every character and their schedule for that day!

The fun thing about cruise line is that each character should be listed with a 15 minute window. That 15 minute window is the amount of time the line will be open for that character! So as long as you jump in their line before the 15 minutes ends, you're good to meet that character.

On my first night I went through the app and made sure to look at the schedules for the characters for each day of the cruise, just to see what was going on. This gave me an idea for how I wanted to try and meet them all. It was hard work but somehow I really was able to meet everyone I wanted to!

I was on a 4 night cruise so the outfit schedule was along these lines: - The first day of the cruise the characers were in their cruise attire - Halloween day and night (the night of the Mousquerade) they were in Halloween Costumes - Pirate night they were in Pirate attire and Halloween attire during the day - The last day they were in halloween during the day and then in cruise attire at night - The Sanderson Sisters had 4 meetings scheduled for the cruise

If there are characters you definitely want to see make sure you save their times in the app! You can also click on the individual character and it will show you all the times that character is out for your whole cruise!

Mickey's Mousquerade Party was such a fun dance party where each character got to dance in the center of the stage and lead the crowd, then they would rotate and some characters came off the stage and danced with us! They were so cute in their costumes and it was so fun to watch and dance along! They also had candy bags to hand out, and since Disney is partnered with Mars candy, it was good candy!!

The First night on the cruise they had a little show telling the story of the newest Halloween tree. Each ship has a different Halloween tree and they all have different names and stories! This was the sweetest story and it made my Cinderella loving heart full. The Wish's tree is named Boo, (ya know, like Bibbidi Bobbidi Boo?) She is the tree that grew the pumpkin that was used for Cinderella's carriage!! It was such a sweet story and then there was a special surprise in the end! I won't spoil the surprise but make sure if you're going on one of these cruises you don't miss the Halloween Tree story!

Boo has a masquerade mask that if you stand in the right spot you can see her wearing it!

If you're like me and you love getting photos taken on the ships, or you've decided to buy the package that includes all your photos, then here's some tips for making the most of that package!

There are photographers with almost all of the characters! This is an easy way to get a lot of photos.

Each night there are different backdrops set up and on a Halloween cruise there are fun Halloween backdrops and special Halloween magic shots too!

For the halloween cruise they set up one line and 3 photographers in the Grand Hall. One taking photos on the stairs, then one with the tree and lastly with the Cinderella statue! this was such an easy way to get a lot of photos and you only have to wait in one line!

For this cruise they had a couple days where the photographers were on the top deck doing magic shots, a cool 360 shot, and they had the mickey lifesaver to pose with!

During the Mousequerade Party they had photographers roaming the top decks taking photos of everyone in their costumes. This was such a cool way to get a different kind of photo!

For me, the Halloween cruise was everything I hoped it would be! There aren't many tips I can give you other than the same ones I always give: take lots of pictures, show up early for shows and meet and greets, and USE THAT NAVIGATOR APP!!

If you're going on a Halloween cruise on the Wish, I hope you have the time of your life!! Stay Sparkly!!
