Delightful Door Decos!

Updated: Sep 22, 2022

One of my absolute favorite parts about a Disney Cruise is getting to our room and decorating our door!

If you've never been on a Disney Cruise, one of the popular things to do is put magnets on your door for the entire cruise! Some people have different decorations for each day, some have decorations that match themed nights, and some just decorate the first day and leave them until the end of the cruise. There's so many options for decorations to make yourself and there are many you can find for purchase on Etsy and other sites. On all of the Disney ships, until now, the stateroom number was a circle, which is perfect for making different mickey ear decorations! Many people love to use the circle as mickeys head and make magnet ears and body parts to put together- so cute!! The Wish, however, does NOT have circles! instead the stateroom number on the door looks like this:

Going in with this knowledge ahead of time, I knew I had to come up with some different and new clever door decorations. The crossing actually fell on my birthday, so I decided I needed to go with a birthday theme. One of my other favorite things about a Disney cruise is unlimited free soft serve ice cream! I had been joking that I was going to keep track and see how much ice cream I could eat on an eleven night sailing, so the idea for an "ice cream count" to put on the door was born. In my search for inspiration, I saw a tutorial online about light up door decorations and that sparked a big idea! I needed light up mickey balloons!

Once I had all of my ideas ironed out, I set to work. I own a beautiful pink Silhouette Cameo 4, so I designed all of my ideas in Silhouette Studio but I was not sure how I was going to actually make these cute ideas of mine! I did some research and did some testing and discovered that Heat Transfer Vinyl adheres to card stock SO easily! I decided this was perfect, as I already own a TON of HTV in lots of glittery pretty colors! Naturally I wanted our door to sparkle! I spent a few days cutting and ironing and gluing and after all that I ended up with some of the CUTEST door decorations I've seen!

Now the point of this post is not to brag and show off, the point of this post and anything I may post here, is to be helpful! I want everyone to enjoy their Disney Cruise and if you're wanting to make your own door decorations like I made mine, I'm going to attach my designs here so you can make them too! Super cute and (as long as you have the tools) super easy to make!

A warning though, they can be tedious so be sure you allow yourself enough time to get them finished. Wouldn't want to be like me- ironing ice cream cones in the hotel in Amsterdam!

I hope you enjoy these designs and I can't wait to see how cute they come out for you all!

Please share your finished products with me here or on instagram and if you have any questions feel free to message me or comment here!

Enjoy and stay sparkly my lovelies!
